From the first seedling bloom, Light Between Oceans has been a personal favorite. These gently pleated extra large 7 1/2" orchid lavender blooms have a light cream yellow watermark covering half of each petal and a grass green throat. The tall 45" scapes support the extra large blooms with no leaning and the wide branching allows each bloom to open fully. Both CMO and EMO Light Between Oceans reblooms and opens completely with the cooler late summer mornings. Light Between Oceans is easily fertile both ways.

MAN IN THE MAZE is a light lemon and cream bicolor with a patterned eye that will catch your attention. Shades of copper, violet, silver, gray, lavender and fuchsia combine into a maze of color. Beginning the early season with pattern blooms, later blooms frequently show cristation taking the pattern into another dimension. The clean semi-evergreen foliage and sturdy 29" scapes provide a well proportioned plant to the 4 1/2" blooms. Nicely spaced 3 and 4 way branching with 15 - 18 buds. Pod and pollen fertile.

The 6 inch blooms of MYSTIC JEWEL are saturated dark fuchsia with a sparkling pink surface texture that glitters in the light. A large violet eye with small white midrib darts circles above the small grass green throat. Near black petal edges are ruffled and lined in white. Scapes have 4 to 5 wide well spaced branches carrying 20 to 24 buds. MYSTIC JEWEL begins blooming in the mid to late season, is CMO & EMO and blooms are self cleaning. Fertile both ways.

Oceans Rising is a light cream yellow with a purple eye and edge. The purple and cream cristate fins rise from the throat onto the petal surface. I almost didn't introduce Oceans Rising because it does not like to be divided and won't show the cristation until it clumps up. After seedlings from crosses with Oceans Rising matured with nice plant habit, 4 and 5 way branching, as well as cristation, I decided other hybridizers might be interested in using it. Parent Painted on Jeans is not cristate however it is parent to my cristate Weird Anatomy and One Planet. A Different Kinda Buzz is from my midrib cristate Man in the Maze so there is plenty of interesting material to work with in the background of Ocean's Rising. Easily fertile with at least one future intro waiting to be registered.

These 5 3/4" blooms are a pale yellow cream to cream with a blue violet eye and edge. In shade the eye appears as a pure true blue on a pale cream base. Sunlight adds a touch of red to the blue making the color lean toward blue violet and the base a pale yellow. Almost always cristate, the individual blooms have ruffled cristation on the midrib or feathered cristation on the surface of the petals. On a clump it's not unusual to see several midrib cristate blooms and several blooms with cristation on the surface open on the same day. On the rare occasion there is no cristation the blue eye becomes the focal point and is stunning! Fertile both ways, an excellent parent for both cristation and blue eyes.

The flowers of PAINTED ON JEANS have a clear rose-pink base with a vivid blue-violet patterned eye and edge. PAINTED ON JEANS begins blooming mid season and continues through the late season with 3 to 5 way branching and 16 - 24 buds. Foliage is nicely arched remaining attractive into late fall. Beautiful in the garden and easily fertile both ways for the hybridizer.

Years ago Curt Hanson shared his tetraploid conversion of Jack Carpenter's cristate diploid Texas Feathered Fancy with me. The seedlings from the crosses I made using his conversion can be found in the background of many of the Sculpted cristate seedlings I am currently working with and in future registrations. POSEIDON'S HORSES is a medium rose to pink with dark violet band and lighter multi colored cristation. The heavy pink, cream and yellow cristation grows across the petals in multiple lines, thick and full of jagged knobby edged ridges. Registered with 3 way branching with 15 buds, once settled in 4 way branching and 18 to 20 buds is possible. The blooms can spot from dew, rain or bugs due to the heavy cristation pushing the blooms partly open the evening before blooms are fully open. POSEIDON'S HORSES is fertile both ways, although pods can be difficult. Seeing a variety of expressions in the cristation coming from POSEIDON'S HORSES in the kids and then further down the line in the grandkids makes POSEIDON'S HORSES the most exciting parent for Sculpted cristate forms I've worked with.

These rose-pink 5 1/2" lightly relief sculpted blooms have ruffled light pink and cream edges. A small yellow to green throat sits in the center of the blooms. Tall 32" scapes have wide 3 to 5 way branching producing 18 - 24 buds which bloom through the mid season well into the late. A cold morning opener (CMO) the blooms open completely in the cooler mornings of the late season. Easily fertile both ways.
